The chefs here have a knack for taking common plates, adding a personal, inimitable touch.
My favorite attributes of Annex are the aesthetic & attention to detail, that I’ve yet to find in any other local spot. The textures of the fixtures & furniture combined are pleasing to the eye & make for a Southern California vibe.
Tonight, I tried grilled asparagus with a gribiche sauce, that was made up of chopped boiled egg, dill, prosciutto bread crumbs, & other delicious things I don’t remember. Must, must, must have!
Trying to find a quality salad in a town that only cares about burgers has been quite the struggle. It’s really crazy that something so simple ( bacon, avocado, gorgonzola vinaigrette, walnuts) could be so satisfying. Butter Lettuces Salad just might be my favorite salad in town.
I am no where near a fan of sweets, but my best friend is, so by default there’s always dessert, & if you’re at Annex, it’s always good. RIP to the Chocolate Budino that was served tonight, it was a perfect medium between pudding & cake, a creamy texture topped with cream & chopped hazelnuts.
The Annex Kitchen is perfect for every occasion, especially appetizers & drinks with friends/ family. I recommend having everyone in your party order different items so everyone can enjoy each piece of heaven this place has to offer. Smashed Fingerling Potatoes & pizza better be on the tab or you’re missing out. I knew when I walked up to the big red neon “A” for the first time, that this place was going to be a hit. Annex is out of this city’s restaurant league, & game changing. May future businesses take notes. Cheers!
